The Comparison to Past Kentucky Guards
It’s hard not to compare him to guys like Immanuel Quickley or Antonio Reeves.
Those were guys who could take over a game. But there’s a catch.
Reece has that ceiling, for sure.
He’s not there yet, but he’s got the engine.
The biggest difference is probably his shot selection.
Quickley was incredibly efficient.
Reece needs to be more careful with the ball.
If he can stop turning it over at a high rate, he’s going to be a nightmare for opposing defenses. Now think about that for a second.
It’s all about decision making.
And honestly, you can teach decision making.
You can’t teach that kind of athleticism and skill mix.
Expectations for the Season
Look, nobody expects him to average 20 points a night.
That’s unrealistic. Here’s the interesting part.
But if he can average around 10 to 12 points and grab about 4 or 5 rebounds a game, the team is going to be in a good spot.
He’s the kind of player who can win you a game you shouldn’t win.

That’s Reece Potter’s ceiling.

They need that fire.
And I think he’s finally ready to give them exactly that.

They don’t care about excuses.
They just want to win. But there’s a catch.
Reece knows this.
He’s probably heard every boos and every cheer since he stepped on campus.
But he’s still here.
That takes a lot of guts.
It shows he wants to be a Wildcat more than he wants to be the star of another team.
The Verdict: Is This a Good Sign?
Yeah, I think it is.
It’s a high-risk, high-reward move for the program, sure.
But it’s also a sign of resilience.
Kentucky has built a culture of guys who stick around when things get hard.
And Reece is the latest example.
He’s not the flashiest player in the country, but he’s a gritty competitor.
And in this league, gritty competitors win games.
